Projections, Planting and People
A massive thank you to all those who came out to our Celebrating Tolworth Weekend!
Friday saw the opening night of our month long digital advent calendar projections onto the north face of Tolworth Tower. With music and drinks, supplied by the great team at La Fratelli, we gathered to countdown the projections. Festive montages, with different festive themes such as 'giving' and 'gathering', will be projected from 5:30-6:30pm until boxing day.
Our weekend continued with the planting of 80 new saplings at Tolworth's hidden gem, the Corinthian Casuals Football Club. The club is the highest ranked amateur football club in the UK and also stands as a vital part of British footballing history.
We look forward to working with the club on more collaborative projects in the future and would like to say a special thank you to community liaison manager John Forrest.
Sunday drew the weekend to a close with a great turnout of volunteers to help plant the benches along Tolworth Broadway. Our goal is to have local businesses adopt each of the 27 planters, which will have a variety of themes including 'Fragrant herb garden', 'Air purifying plants' and 'Bee friendly pollinators'.
The event also saw the maiden voyage for our mobile green sheds. The sheds, designed by MA architecture students at Kingston University, are cyclable storage units which hold plants, seeds, tools and soil. We hope to cycle them to local schools and community groups in the new year to run wildflower seedbomb making workshops!
We had a wonderful weekend and would like to say thanks again to everyone who made it out to Celebrate Tolworth! Keep up to date with our latest events on this blog.
