First in Tolworth Market

First in Tolworth Market is a new community-led initiative which celebrates the best of our local traders and artists, bringing creativity, local produce and fantastic food traders to Tolworth Broadway every month.

In May 2018, well over 300 residents plus students, local businesses and organisations went to the top floor of Tolworth Tower, as part of SHEDx, to look out over Tolworth and see it from a new perspective. The feedback was exciting and varied. Everyone was amazed by the amount of green space in Tolworth, and had the opportunity to play with ideas about what they wanted to see in the local area. A large amount of feedback revolved around the strong creativity and community elements of the area, and a desire to celebrate this in as many ways as possible. Cue the collaboration between a group of local people working with the SHEDx team to introduce First in Tolworth Market.

The first market was trialled in June and was received with a positive response with people commenting on the life it brought to the Broadway. We are looking forward to moving forwards with monthly markets, held on the first Sunday from 11am - 3pm. The new artwork for the market has been designed by a talented local artist, John O'Sullivan and we are very grateful for all his work to launch the new brand.
