A glimpse into the Lantern Making Workshops at FUSEBOX
The Community Brain ran two free lantern making workshops at FUSEBOX in February half-term as part of Light Up Kingston, the light installation trail organised by Kingston First & Riverside Walk.
Families were invited to upcycle old milk bottles and create unique decorations for their lanterns, which will then be used for the Kingston Light Procession on Sunday 16 March 2025.
We organise the Light Procession to shine a light on Kingston Upon Thames’ forgotten candle-making heritage and remember the borough's lamplighters. There once was a candle making factory on Villiers Road and a candle shop on the Market Place.
The next workshops will take place at:
Seething Festival
Sunday 2 March, 1-3pm at St Andrews Square
Kingston Light Procession
Sunday 16 March, 5:15-6pm at Kingston Market Place (meet by the statue)
