EVENT Let’s Talk about Tolworth’s Nature - Creating one of the most biodiverse spaces inside the M25

  • When: Saturday 14 May – 10.30am (Doors open 10.15) to 12.30pm

  • Where: The cornerHOUSE Theatre, 116 Douglas Road, Tolworth, KT6 7SB

We want to let you know about a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping a vision that could see Tolworth Court Farm Fields nature reserve – the 50 hectares open natural space between Tolworth and Chessington – become one of the largest and richest biodiverse spaces inside the M25.

A richer ecosystem and a safer green space for all

Join us on Saturday (14 May) from 10.30am at The cornerHOUSE Theatre in Tolworth, to discover more about the ecological wonders of Tolworth Court Farm Fields nature reserve.

Come and contribute your ideas and help us develop a community-created vision for evolving our borough’s largest nature reserve into a richer ecosystem and a safer green space for you to enjoy today - and a vital suburban eco escape for future generations, tomorrow.

Working together, Citizen Zoo, The Community Brain and Kingston Council have made great progress in reclaiming the site as an area for nature to thrive. We’ve re-established ancient hedgerows, grasslands, woodland and wetland areas – creating much-needed habitats for many plant and animal species.

But we know there’s still more to do.

We want to involve you and the wider community to help the site achieve its full ecological potential and ensure this crucial wildlife corridor gets the recognition, funding and love needed to protect it for decades to come.

Why now?

The Greater London Authority has recently awarded us some funding, which means we’re able to launch this project. We’re kicking it off by starting a conversation with local people about how together we might help the Tolworth Court Farm Fields nature reserve evolve to benefit both disappearing flora and fauna and the health and wellbeing of the community.

What’s happening at Saturday’s launch event?

Come along on Saturday and discover from the teams leading the project more about the importance of this often-overlooked natural space on your doorstep.

Plus, for younger ones, we have butterfly-themed crafts activities and wildlife face painting.

Other ways to get involved

Along with the launch event, over the coming months, we’ll be running expert-led ecology events for the community which will help us get a clearer picture of the nature reserve’s ecosystem today.
