The Lost Toys

As we approach Christmas, and the message of mass consumption is heavily promoted, we are asking people to stop for a moment and think about the refugee crisis that is upon us. Families, their children, embarking on dangerous, terrifying journeys. Their lives, completely uprooted. Leaving behind family, friends, homes, belongings - everything that is familiar, everything that brings them comfort. All to try to make a better life for themselves and their children.

Think back to when you were a child. You had a favourite toy, a blanket, a story - something that was yours. Can you imagine this frightening journey without it? Unimaginable. This Christmas, we are partnering with Refugee Action Kingston, to try to give these children something of their own again. The Lost Toys. We are asking anyone who wants to kindly donate brand new toys for boys and girls between the ages of 4 -11. You can drop these off to the Hook Centre, this Saturday, between 1pm-4pm or at Baking Ideas at Tolworth Station (when can we be there?) We understand everyone is feeling the strains of covid so if donating a toy feels overwhelming then you can also make a monetary donation here https://www.refugeeactionkingston.org.uk/donate which will be spent on toys for the children. We must do all we can to be kind to one another and, whilst we know this is only a small contribution to a much bigger solution that is needed, we hope this kindness will bring some comfort. https://shop.refugeeactionkingston.org.uk/

Drop off times

Below are a list of dates and times when you can drop toys off with one of our team at Baking Ideas at Tolworth station:

Friday 10th (10:30-16:30) Monday 13th (12:00-14:00 / 15:00-17:00) Tuesday 14th (9:00-19:00) Wednesday 15th (12:00-14.00 / 15:00 - 19:00) Monday 20th (12:00-14:00 / 15:00-19:00)

Please ensure toys donated are new or unused and complete.
